How the SaaS works
Three parts make an Odoo module sellable: a License Server that decides, a License Client that asks, and encryption that keeps your code yours. Here is how they work together, from the first install to renewal.

Encryption
Every licensed add-on ships encrypted. Odoo installs and upgrades it like any other module, but the code cannot be read, copied or resold without a valid license.

Install
The customer installs the add-on. The client registers it with the server on first load.
Trial
The server answers with a 7-day trial. No card, no form, nothing to configure.
Activate
You activate the license on the server, by hand or from a paid subscription. The client picks it up on its next check.
Heartbeat
The client checks in on a schedule. The dashboard shows every installation that is alive.
Renew
Expiry warnings go out by e-mail. If a license lapses, a grace period keeps the customer working while you talk.
Protected without getting in the way
Your add-on leaves us encrypted and stays encrypted on the customer's server. Nobody can open it, copy it or move it to another instance, yet for the customer it installs, upgrades and runs exactly like any other Odoo module.

Tied to the license
The encrypted add-on only works with a valid license from your License Server.
Upgrades keep working
Install, upgrade and migrate through Odoo as usual. No special steps for the customer.
Runs anywhere
On OdooSky Cloud, on any hosting provider or in the customer's own data center.
Offline mode
The client caches the last answer. If the server is unreachable, the customer keeps working for a configurable number of days.
Grace period
An expired license does not stop the business on day one. A grace period gives you room to renew before writes are blocked.
Signed requests
Every call between client and server is HMAC-signed and rate-limited, so a copied module cannot forge a valid answer.
One dashboard for every customer
The License Server runs on the same Odoo that sells your plans. Products, license types, trials, activations and security alerts live next to your subscriptions and invoices.
